CABIN RECONSTRUCTION- WEEK SIX! Well, we missed several weekends at camp but made up for lost time this weekend. Friday Jeff and I stripped the three layers of old shingles off the back roof. Then we placed the ice and water shield underlayment on the front roof so we could shingle the front on Saturday once James and Andy arrived. Good thing we got the roof covered on Friday because it poured all night Friday and into Saturday morning. It was noon before the roof was dry enough to shingle but, with Brad's help, we got the roof shingled.
On Sunday we removed and replaced some of the rear roof boards that were rotten and full of carpenter ants. Then we put up the fascia boards and drip edge and were able to get that roof protected with the ice and water shield before th day was over. We may not get to finish the shingles for a couple of weeks but, at least, the cabin is now water proof.
Lastly we installed the window that will fill the void were the fireplace used to be. More studs to put up before I can finish the siding but it is beginning to look much better. All in all a very productive weekend and we were still able to get in some beach time! DO YOU WANT TO SEE MORE PHOTOS? CLICK HERE!
