BUNKHOUSE RENOVATION
Here are some photos of the Bunkhouse project as it continues in Spring 2020.
Mike and I spent a long four days working on the bunkhouse. We first installed all the rafters for the flat portion of the ceiling. It still needs lots of blocking and nailers added but I can work on them next time when I am there alone. We then cut open more of the bathroom floor out and installed a section of the new waste pipe that will replace the old sewer line. I transitioned from the old 4" line and added enough new pipe so it can be reached from under the back of the cabin. I can then connect the toilet and sink once the final locations are established. We patched the access holes that we made in the floor and took some of the old plywood from the walls and used it to bring that area of the floor up level with the rest of the bedroom area. Several sections of the old linoleum flooring were buckled and loose by the back door so they had to come up. That left the rest of that floor a little higher so I decided it would be best to remove the rest of the linoleum. It was stuck down with lots of black asphalt adhesive and the flooring was so brittle that it broke as we chiseled on it unless we heated it with my propane torch first. We spent a whole and very hard day getting that floor ready to the final new plywood. We then added a layer of plywood over the complete floor area which will add a lot of strength. That went pretty quickly compared to all the time we spent scraping the old floor. There is one secton by the door that is left to finish. The building had pulled away from the pumphouse a little in that area so I cut the floor out for access and Brad came and added some heavy duty screw anchors just to stabilize it. We had a very busy four days and both need to rest up for the next visit.
